For as gut-wrenching as the stories we write can be, there’s nothing quite like the pivotal moments in our real lives to remind us about one of humanity’s greatest gifts: our ability to love.
I was reminded of that when my son, now grown, and I said our goodbyes recently before he left for Los Angeles, where he’ll embark on a master’s in art therapy.
I feel so lucky that during our time with him, we were able to work out our differences and come to understand and appreciate one another.
My son has such a deep passion for both art and helping people overcome their personal challenges in order to become their best selves that I’m sure the world will be a better place for having him in it.
