Winter is most definitely the time to think about Mary Donahue, who, at the age of 15, is heading into the blizzard winter of 1978-79, not expecting what’s about to hit.
A few facts about the Jan. 13 - 14, 1979 Chicago storm:
Only 2 inches of snow were supposed to fall. Instead, 21 inches fell in 38 hours. Five people died. Flights were grounded at O’Hare Airport for 96 hours.
