Preorder BLISS ROAD now!
I think for a lot of writers, when they inform their families the next book will be a memoir that assesses family dynamics, the initial reaction from moms, dads, siblings and other relatives may be trepidation.
“What are you going to write?”
“Why write about us at all?”
“How are you going to make me look?”
But when I told my sisters, kids, husband and other family members I was going to write a memoir, nobody objected.
Nobody.
That qualifies them as a first-rate family of smart, compassionate people who care for me and each other and believe deeply in the right of self-expression. They're people who know immediately I have no malevolent intent, but instead only a keen desire to know what happened.
So my ode today is to my family for being such good eggs. And in fact, the best.
In a now-famous Martha non sequitur, how do you like your eggs?
Me: over easy.
